Mr. Dory Lawrence Adams, Jr., age 89, of Columbia passed away Sunday, October 9, 2016.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday at 2PM at Maury Memorial Gardens with Minister Ed Murphy officiating. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 12-2PM at Heritage Funeral Home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Dory was born in Columbia on September 17, 1927 to Dory Lawrence Adams, Sr. and Leota Sharp Adams Lynn. He married Grace Corine Gilliam in 1948. Together they have three children: Patricia Adams Delk of Columbia, Jerry Lawrence Adams of Pleasant View, and Vickie Adams (Jim) Matthews of Pegram. Dory was a long time employee of Monsanto Chemical Company. He and Grace enjoyed a long and happy retirement on their farm. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, and playing pool with his many friends. Dory was a member of Highland Church of Christ.

In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by his grandchildren: Jennifer (Brent) Penndleton of Lawrenceburg; great grandchildren: McClain, Carynne, and Mason Delk, Laurelle Patmore, Ryan, Justin, and Lauren Pendleton; and granddaughter-in-law: Laurie Sue Delk of Columbia.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson: Bryan McClain Delk.

Pallbearers will be: Brent Pendleton, Roscoe Voss, McClain Delk, Mason Delk, John L. Davis, and Austin Adams.

Honorary pallbearers will be his fellow co-workers at Monsanto Chemical Company.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Avalon Hospice of Lawrenceburg and their wonderful caregivers.
