Mary Barker

May 18, 1923 - September 29, 2016

Mary Lynn Barker, age 93, a resident of Columbia, passed away Thursday evening, September 29, 2016 at her residence.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at 12:30 PM at Rock Springs Cemetery with Richard Van Cleave officiating. A visitation will also be held on Saturday from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on May 18, 1923 in California, Mary was the daughter of the late Leonard Lynn and the late Viola Johns Lynn. She was a retired History Teacher with the Maury County School System where she worked at Whitthorne Middle School for many years and was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church. In her younger days she enjoyed going on walks every day. Mary also enjoyed gardening, playing the piano, and doing genealogy research.

She is survived by her daughter: Susan (Terry) Hill of Columbia; brother: John Lynn of Columbia; grandchildren: Nathan Hill, Joseph Hill, and Peter Hill; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Rayburn Charles Barker; daughter: Emily Barker; and son: Charles Barker.
