Desoto Hunt, Jr.

February 12, 1952 - September 26, 2016

Mr. Desoto Hunt, Jr., age 64, a resident of Columbia, passed away Monday, September 26, 2016 at Signature Healthcare.

A homegoing celebration will be held on Saturday at 2PM at True Vine Baptist Church with Pastor Donald L. Coney officiating. Burial will follow in Wilkes Cemetery in Culleoka. The body will lie in state on Saturday from 1-2PM at the church. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on February 12, 1952 in Maury County, Desoto was the son of the late Christopher Columbus Desoto Hunt, Sr. and the late Polly Ann Perry Hunt. Desoto was educated through the Maury county school system. He worked for a trucking company in Franklin TN until his health began to fail. Junior enjoyed spending time with family and friends,researching family history,and talking on the phone calling to check in on his loved ones.While in the nursing facility he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and savior.His warm smile and hearty laugh will truly be missed by all who love him.

He is survived by his daughters: Tonya Hunt of Columbia, Samantha(Richard)Woodson of Columbia; brothers: Joe Curtis Hunt of Shelbyville, Cubie (Jeannie) Hunt of Kentucky, Perry Winn Hunt of Columbia; sister: Albrice Alred of Nashville; grandchildren: Treavor Armstrong, Trenton Armstrong, Timarya Woodson, Richard Woodson, Jr.; great granddaughter: Tinslee Armstrong; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son: Timothy T. Hunt.

Pallbearers will be: James Foster, James Hunt, Cubie Lamont Hunt, Lamontee' Hunt, Isaiah Hunt, and Leandre Hunt.
