Mr. Donald Stanley Cox, age 73, husband of Aline Cox, and a resident of Todd Carter Road in Columbia, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 23, 2016 due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Nebraska.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday at 1:30PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Bro. Randy King officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Grace in Maury Memorial Gardens, adjacent to Heritage Funeral Home. A visitation will be held on Sunday from 9:00AM-1:30PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on November 21, 1942 in Williamson County, Donald was the son of the late Delmer Stanley Cox and the late Mary M. England Cox. He attended Calvary Baptist Church in Spring Hill and Santa Fe Baptist Church. He was raised on a farm, and in his younger days he liked to hunt. He worked as a truck driver for over forty years. Don enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandkids. He loved watching football and old westerns.

He is survived by his wife: Aline Holder Cox of Columbia; children: David Dwayne (Pamela) Cox of Mt. Pleasant, Sandra Jane Cox of Columbia, Douglas Lee (Therisa Michelle) Cox of Columbia; brothers: Larry Wayne (Elma) Cox of Hohenwald, Jerry Lloyd Cox of Hohenwald, Billy Joe (Sherry) Cox of Franklin, Terry (Mary) Cox of Spring Hill; sisters: Barbara Roberts of Columbia, Mary Lee (William) Dobbins of Pulaski, Pauline (Bruce) Whitwell of Mt. Pleasant, Kathy (Wayne) Green of College Grove; grandchildren: Adam Wayne Scott, Charity Ann Gibson, Shannon Michele Lowe, Darrell Wiley Cox, and Christina Faith Cox; and numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother: Daniel Cox; and sisters: Margaret Blackburn and Patricia Sue Carol.

Pallbearers will be: Larry Cox, Terry Cox, Jerry Lloyd Cox, Billy Joe Cox, Adam Wayne Scott, Phillip Dobbins, Chris Whitwell, Keith Cox, and Charles “Tubby” Victory. Donald’s grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.
