Geri Lisa Black Potter, age 59, a resident of Columbia, passed away Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Life Care Center.

A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, September 27th at 12pm at the Arbors at Polk Memorial Gardens with Bro. Rick Points and Rev. Jay Hoppus officiating.  Inurnment will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens.  The family will visit with friends on Tuesday from 11am until the 12pm service at the cemetery.  Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on August 20, 1957 in Anchorage, Alaska, Lisa was the daughter of Dean Kincaid Black and the late William Chesley Black. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and worked as the Assistant Editor at the Columbia Daily Herald for a short time. Her most recent job was at Measurements Inc. as the educational testing supervisor for the TCAP system. Lisa’s hobbies included photography and reading. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her sister: Tracy (Jay) Hoppus of Columbia; grandchildren: Tyler, Summer, Colin McGaw all of Columbia; son-in-law: Steven McGaw of Columbia; nieces: Lauren Devore (fiancé: Dustin Blocker) of Columbia, Macy (Justin) Hobbs of Lynnville, Kaitlyn Devore of Columbia; and several great nephews.

Along with her father, she was preceded in death by her daughter: Lisa Jo McGaw; brother: Darrell Black; maternal grandparents: Allen Kincaid and Elizabeth Kincaid West and Charlie West and paternal grandmother: Mrs. Pearl Black.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Charles Ball and his staff, Dr. Cary Pulliam, and the Staff at Life Care Center.
