Clifton "Cliff" Kimes

December 31, 1949 - September 18, 2016

Mr. Clifton “Cliff” Kimes, age 66, husband of Peggy Kimes, and a resident of Chapel Hill, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 18, 2016 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 2PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Blythe and Rev. Blen Hinton officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Promise in Maury Memorial Gardens with Rev. Norm Lestarjette officiating the graveside service. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5-8PM and again on Thursday from 1-2PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on December 31, 1949 in Euclid, Ohio, Cliff was the son of the late James E. Kimes and the late Virginia Amick Kimes. He and his wife, Peggy, were faithful members of First Assembly of God in Columbia for many years where he served actively as a Royal Ranger leader, Sunday school teacher, choir member, and in children’s ministries. He worked for Sears and O’Reilly Auto Parts, but spent the majority of his career working as a machinist for 32 years at General Motors where he retired in 2004. Above all, Cliff loved his family, especially his wife, kids, and grandkids.

In addition to his wife, Peggy of 47 years, he is survived by his children: Robert Clifton (Carol) Kimes of Lewisburg, Charlotte Pauline (Rev. Blen) Hinton of Columbia, Bill (Carrie) Kimes of Spring Hill; sister: Beverly (Jim) Arko of Florence, KY; grandchildren: Tyler Evan Kimes, Olivia Lenere Kimes, Leanna Lynn Hinton, Chelsea Marie Hinton, Austin Michael Kimes, and Carter Thomas Kimes; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Pallbearers will be: Bill Kimes, Robert Kimes, Brian Hawes, Rev. Blen Hinton, Greg Atwell, and Bill Yancey.
