Mary Etta Brown Estes, age 86, resident of Culleoka, passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2016 at Life Care Center of Columbia.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 18th at 11AM in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Bro. Monte McCandless and Bro. Tim McCandless officiating.  Burial will follow in the Friendship Cemetery with a Dove Release presented by Bro. Rick Points.  The family will visit with friends on Wednesday from 4-8PM at the funeral home and again on Thursday from 10AM until the 11AM service. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mary Etta was born in Maury County and was the daughter of the late Herman Brown and the late Josie McGaw Brown.  She wedded L.D. Estes on November 27, 1943 and had a wonderful marriage of 51 years until he preceded her in death in 1994.  She and L.D. founded Faith Pentecostal Church on Hatcher Lane in the late 70’s.  She enjoyed helping him in the church doing many things.  Some of her hobbies included bird watching, working in her flower garden, and writing poetry and songs.  She also liked to read and was an amazing cook.  In her recent years, she loved watching all her chickens.  Mary Etta loved her family dearly and she will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her son: Sidney (Patsy) Estes of Columbia; daughters: Barbara (Monte) McCandless of Culleoka, Faye (Phillip C.) Parrish of Culleoka, Mary Davidson of Culleoka, and Debbie (Chris) England of Columbia; numerous loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; and her faithful cat of 16 years, Callie.

Along with her husband and parents, Mary was preceded in death by her son: David Estes; brothers: James, Charles, and Allen Brown; sisters: Bessie Osborne, Christine Runions, and Shirley Brown; grandchildren: Jeremy Jennette, Ben Dewire, and David Lee Estes; and great granddaughter: Anabeth Hanes.

Pallbearers will be Tim Estes, Nathan Davidson, Stephen Hanes, Richie Hickman, Derek Estes, and BJ McCormick. Honorary pallbearers will be Chris England, Phillip Parrish, Tracy Odom, and the Members of Faith Pentecostal Church.
