Mrs. Addie Stanfill Crotts, age 72, wife of the late Charles Crotts and a resident of Lyon Street in Columbia, passed away early Saturday morning August 13, 2016 at Alive Hospice in Nashville.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 17th at 7pm in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. Chip Hunter, Rev. Frank Smith, and Pastor Mark Proctor officiating.  The family will visit with friends on Wednesday from 3-7pm at the funeral home.  Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Addie was born September 3, 1943 in Santa Fe, TN, and was the daughter of the late Joe L. Stanfill, Sr. and the late Jessie Hill Stanfill.  She graduated from Santa Fe High School and attended Columbia State Community College.  She married the love of her life, the late Charles Don Crotts, on July 19, 1975, in Columbia, TN.  He preceded her in death in 2013.

She taught pre-school at First United Methodist Church in Columbia for 31 years.  Prior to that, she was employed at Gray & Allen Drug Store for fourteen years.  Addie was a strong Christian lady that loved her church and our God.  She was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church and enjoyed serving on many church committees.  With her great personality, Addie was a people person and never met a stranger.  She enjoyed working in the yard, cooking, and sewing.  She also admired her flower garden.  Above all, Addie loved her family.

She is survived by her two precious daughters: Jill Crotts of Smyrna and Janet Crotts Valentine of Hendersonville; Three wonderful grandchildren that she adored: Lucy Malak, Jack and Kate Valentine;  Sons-in-law: Dr. John Valentine and Jamie Porter; Sisters: Maggie (Ray) Shouse and Charlotte Stanfill McCoy; Brother: Ray (Cheryl) Stanfill; Sisters-in-law: Johnnie Crotts and Wanda Stanfill; many nieces and nephews; and several close friends and neighbors who were like family:  Marie (Charles) King, Mary White, Elizabeth (Jim) Swindle, Elsie (Harlan) Kelley, and Peggy Fuller.

Along with her husband and parents, Addie was preceded in death by her brothers: Joe L. Stanfill, Jr., Hobert Stanfill, Wentford Stanfill, Donald Stanfill, and Wayne Stanfill.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to First United Methodist Church Weekday School, 222 W. 7th Street, Columbia, TN 38401.
