Mr. George Arnold Pruitt, age 81, husband of Betty Pruitt, and a resident of Duck River, passed away Thursday, August 11, 2016 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 1PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Ledbetter officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. A visitation will be held on Friday from 4-8PM and on Saturday from 11AM – 1PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on December 6, 1934 in Maury County George was the son of the late William Walter Pruitt and the late Lura Blankenship Pruitt. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of Liberty Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and playing the guitar, but his greatest joy was getting visits from his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Betty, of 54 years, he is survived by his son: Gary (Tammy) Pruitt of Hampshire; brother: Walter Vernon (Eva Mae) Pruitt of Columbia; grandchildren: Timothy Jacob Pruitt of Nashville, Adam Dale Pruitt of Nashville, Matthew Ryan Pruitt of Chattanooga, Sabrina Nicole Pruitt of Hampshire; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son: Timothy Pruitt; and brothers: Jimmy Lee Pruitt and Rev. Elgia Donald Pruitt.

Pallbearers will be: Jacob Pruitt, Adam Pruitt, Matthew Pruitt, Kerry Pruitt, Wayne Pruitt, and David Pruitt. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Liberty Baptist Church.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital: 1102 17th Avenue South #300, Nashville, TN 37212.
