Mr. William Michael “Mike” Peden, age 65, a resident of Columbia, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Life Care Center.

A funeral service will be held on Monday at 1PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Points officiating. Burial will follow in Totty Bend Church of Christ Cemetery in Hickman County. A visitation will be held on Monday from 11AM -1PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on January 7, 1951 in Davidson County, William was the son of the late William Morris Peden and the late Frankie Bond Peden. He was a member of Riverview Baptist Church and often attended Northside Baptist Church. He was a retired truck driver and previously worked as the manager of several Burger Chefs. William enjoyed farming and riding motorcycles and was a former bowler. Above all, he loved his family, especially his grandkids and his cows.

He is survived by his wife of 16 years: Jerri Long Peden of Columbia; sons: Joseph Michael “Joey” (Martha) Peden of Columbia, Steven Michael Peden of Murfreesboro; daughter by choice: Kayce (Jermaine “Tiny”) Brooks of Columbia; brothers: Tim (Linda) Peden of Columbia, Randy Peden of Columbia; grandchildren: Lille Kate Peden, Cody Peden, Maraiya Brooks, Daisha Brooks, Jordan Brooks, Jaylynn Brooks; special cousin: Rickey Peden; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Jermaine Brooks, Billy Peden, Zack Tate, Kit Peden, David Walls, and Dalton Walls. Honorary pallbearers will be Rickey Peden, Jeff Peden, Carl Peden, David Bass, Sonny Hargrove, Glenn Pavy, Tommy Mayberry, Kenneth (PeeWee) Scarberry, Ken Fraley, Alan Hood, and the Crew at Dodson’s Grocery.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Life Care, and a special thanks to Deb Victory for the compassion shown.
