Myrtle Potts

May 13, 1933 - July 21, 2016

Myrtle Potts, age 83, a resident of the Theta Community, passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at her residence.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday at 2PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor David Ward officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Hills Cemetery in the Theta Community with Bruce Peltier officiating the graveside service. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 4-8PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on May 13, 1933 in Leatherwood, Tennessee Myrtle was the daughter of the late Johnny Davis and the late Bertha Anderson Davis. She worked as a seamstress for nearly 30 years at Public Shirt, previously known as Edricks, in Columbia where she enjoyed sewing. She loved hummingbirds, flowers, canning and drinking coffee. Myrtle was an excellent cook who could make a wonderful banana pudding. She also enjoyed puzzles and playing solitaire, as well as picking buttercups. Myrtle loved old westerns and watching her children and grandchildren play ball. Above all, she adored her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children: William (Karen) Potts of Theta, Don Potts of Theta, Anthony Potts (Katherine) of Theta; brother: Nathan “Dick” Davis of Shady Grove; grandchildren: Jessica Potts, Nick Madore, Cady Sanford, Justin Potts, Chris Potts, Nicole Potts, Alaina Potts, Brad Potts, Amber Potts, Autumn Potts, Jason (Amanda) Potts, Crystal (T.J.) Toney, Brandon (Angie) Potts, Brayden Potts, Brandy Potts, April Martin, and Brandy (Jay) Martin; thirteen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: J.B. Potts, sons: Randy Potts, Buddy Potts; brothers: Henry Davis, Sanford Davis, Walker Davis, Floyd Davis; and sisters: Hattie Hanes, Mattie Kelly, Hulda Beard, Ethel Davis, and Edna Riley.

Pallbearers will be: Jerry Davis, Johnny Davis, Steven Davis, Ken Spahr, Richard Peach, Tim Stanfill, Scotty Alley, and Scotty Dial. Honorary pallbearers will be: the Theta Community, and her previous coworkers at Edricks and Public Shirt.
