George Lipscomb, Jr.

January 27, 1935 - July 12, 2016

Mr. George L. Lipscomb, Jr., age 81, of Columbia, passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 6PM at Carmack Boulevard Church of Christ with Demetrius Nelson officiating. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 5-6PM at the church. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on January 27, 1935 in Maury County, George was the son of the late George Lipscomb, Sr. and the late Jimmie Smith Lipscomb. He was previously employed at Union Carbide and at Campbell & Due Construction. In his younger years, George enjoyed tobacco farming.

He is survived by his children: Steve (Janice) Lipscomb, Chanta Lipscomb, Chandra Lipscomb all of Madisonville, KY, Sheila (Larry) Browne, William Lipscomb, Carla Lipscomb, Jermaine (Heather) Lipscomb, Detorleian (Latoya) Lipscomb all of Columbia, Gwendolyn (Larry) Jones of Murfreesboro, Vinson Lipscomb, Jacquelyn Fleming both of Nashville, and Vangoalan “Van” Lipscomb of Lewisburg; brothers: Robert L. (Linda) Lipscomb, James “Bubba” (Ruth) Lipscomb, Willie C. Lipscomb; sisters: Mary L. Scribner and Annie “Sang” Ellory; twenty-nine grandchildren; and twenty-seven great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Janie Walker Lipscomb; daughter: Patricia Lipscomb; and son: Natorleian Lipscomb.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
