Charlie Barnett, Jr.

May 10, 1973 - July 11, 2016

Mr. Charles “Charlie” William Barnett, Jr., age 43, husband of Trudy Barnett, and a resident of Columbia, passed away July 11, 2016 at Williamson Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held on Friday at 3PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Points and Jason Shaw officiating. Burial will follow in Maury Memorial Gardens, adjacent to Heritage Funeral Home. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 4-8PM at the funeral home.  Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on May 10, 1973 in Columbia, Charlie was the son of Charles William (Dianne) Barnett, Sr. and the late Bertie Howell Barnett. He liked golfing and grilling out and was an avid Alabama football fan. Charlie was an 80’s enthusiast who loved collecting records, record players, Hot Wheels, and Dukes of Hazzard cars. Every Sunday he enjoyed building a model car. Above all, Charlie had a big sense of humor and loved making people laugh. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his wife and father, he is survived by his children: Marlayna Connelly of Summertown, Deidra Connelly of Murfreesboro, Caylee Hinson of Columbia; siblings: Rose Mary Howell (Ronnie) Kelly of Columbia, James David (Holly) Barnett of Spring Hill, Karen Laurel of Detroit, MI; grandchild: Stephan Hubbuch; nephews: Steven (Beth) Barnett of Columbia, Ronald Nathan Kelly of Columbia; nieces: Aliceson (Andrew) Barnett of Franklin, Rebecca (Brian) Akers of Culleoka, Christian Faith Barnett of Spring Hill, Kayla Danielle Barnett of Spring Hill, Brittany Nicole Barnett of Murfreesboro; close friend: Kelly Chapman; a host of cousins, great nieces and nephews, and extended family; and his beloved Chihuahua: Jack.

Along with his mother, he was preceded in death by his nephew: Zachary Jewell; niece: Crystal Kelly; paternal grandparents: Violet Ora & Manuel Barnett; maternal grandparents: Alice & Houston Howell; maternal grandfather: Samuel Cox; paternal great grandparents: Ethel & Hiram Overbay; and maternal great grandparents: Nancy Alabama and George Green, and Jim & Eula Howell.

Pallbearers will be: Nathan Kelly, Tony Williams, Steven Barnett, Andrew Layne, Brian Akers, and Tim Brady. Charlie’s coworkers, family, and friends will serve as honorary pallbearers.
