Myrtle Holt Chapman, age 94, of Columbia, Tennessee, passed away July 2, 2016 at Poplar Estates with her family by her side.
A private family graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at 4:00 PM at Polk Memorial Gardens with Jeremy Butt officiating. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mrs. Chapman was born on March 8, 1922 to Robert L. and Dora Ann Attkinsson Crumley and spent her childhood as one of ten children on the family farm in Giles County, Tennessee. As a young wife and mother, she and her husband, Hint F. Holt, Sr., worked and reared their family in Columbia, Tennessee. Her interests included her family, her church, quilting, and collecting antiques. Retiring after more than thirty-five years as a seamstress with Dixie Manufacturing Company, she and her husband, Hint, owned and operated Holt’s Retirement Home. There she was a loving caregiver to many in her community.
She was a long time member of Northview Church of Christ.
Mrs. Chapman is survived by her children: Peggy Holt (Ronnie) Brown , Hint F. (Donna) Holt, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Deborah Love Moore; and her brother, V.J. Crumley.
She is also survived by her grandchildren: Corky (Sunday) Brown, Suzanne Brown (Dennis) Holden, Brian (Stacee) Brown, Dusty Holt (David) Bryndal, Kim Holt, Jason Holt, Kelly Holt, Jon Holt, and Katy Holt; great grandchildren: Matthew Ryan (Addie) Brown, Mackenzie Taylor (Anthony) Victory, Hayden Elizabeth Brown, Brown Hughes Holden, Amy Sophia Holden, Coben Hint Holden, Joseph Nui Brown, Seth Kokoa Brown, Julia Holt, Judah Holt, Sydney Holt, Harley Holt; and eight great great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband of fifty-two years, Hint F. Holt, Sr.; second husband: R.T. Chapman; also her son, Terry W. Holt; her brothers: Edward, Aaron, Odell, Rufus “Toby,” Bill, and Charles Crumley; sisters: Robbie Jean Adams, Opal Lee Crumley.
