Clara Hill Griggs

June 8, 1943 - July 3, 2016

Mrs. Clara Hill Griggs, age 73, wife of Everett Griggs, and a resident of Columbia, passed away Sun day, July 3, 2016 at Claiborne and Hughes Health Center in Franklin.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at 12P M at Heritage Funeral Home with J.J. King officiating. Burial will follow in Lynn Cemetery in Williamson County. A v isitation will be held on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 from 4-8PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

A native of Santa Fe, Clara was born on June 8, 1943 and was the daughter of the late James Hill and the late Mary Wilson Hill. She was a 1962 graduate of Santa Fe School and was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Columbia. Clara married Everett Griggs on December 12, 1964. Best known as Tishie, she enjoyed playi ng UNO with her family and dearly loved them all .

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter: Paula (Chester) Ragsdale of Primm Springs; brother: John Hill of Columbia; sisters: Kate (Simon) Eastep of Ann Arbor, MI, Carolyn Baucom of Columbia; grandchildren: Magan (Cody) Osborne, Malory (Caleb) Anderson, Ollie Ryan Ragsdale; great grandchildren: Whitney Potts, Payton Anderson, Gauge Osborne, Benjamin Ragsdale, Jade Ragsdale, Eli Anderson; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother: Jim Hill; and sisters: Mary Frances South, Emma Jean Ragsdale, and Jennie Lee Williams.

Pallbearers will be: Ricky South, Joey South, Johnny Hill, Jeff Hill, Michael Hill, and Gary Baucom. Honorary pallbearers will be: Randy Ragsdale, Ronnie South, and Josh South.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Claiborne and Hughes Health Center including: Stacie Gleason, Stacy Robertson, Krista Chapman, Jason Pruitt, Angie Palmer, Monica Thomas, Bradley Dickens and the staff of Gentiva Hospice including: Chauncy, Donna, Lisa, and Hannah.
