Gerald Edward Edmister

Gerald Edward “Jerry” Edmister, 76, resident of Columbia, passed away at his home Friday evening, June 24, 2106.

Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Jerry was born December 30, 1939 in Lockport, NY, son of the late Warren and Ann Gillis Edmister. He was married to Diana Fischer Edmister. Jerry worked as a millwright for Union Carbide in Columbia. He came here to help set up the equipment, loved the area and people, and decided to retire here. He had a good sense of humor, was a very giving man, and always helpful doing things for other people. He grew some of the best tomatoes in the area and very proud of that. Jerry served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam Era.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by a son: Jerry Edmister of Wayland, NY; daughter: Marie Edmister of Lockport, NY; brothers: Allen Edmister, Wally Edmister and Tommy Edmister, all of Lockport, NY; sister: Mary Metcalf of Wisconsin; three grandchildren: Jimmy, Joey and Anthony Edmister. He was preceded in death by his brothers: Emmitt and John.
