Doris Beard

Doris L. Beard, age 86, a resident of Columbia, passed away June 16, 2016 at Alive Hospice in Nashville.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 19, 2016 at 2PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Points and Keith Baker officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Promise in Maury Memorial Gardens adjacent to Heritage Funeral Home. A visitation will be held on Sunday from 1-2PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on December 8, 1929 in Maury County, Doris was the daughter of the late Simon Peter Beard and the late Pauline Thurman Beard. She was of the Baptist faith and loved the Lord and gospel music. Above all, she loved her family.

She is survived by her son: Dennis Hooten of Columbia; daughters: Debbie Baker Patterson of Columbia, Terri Lynn Cox of Columbia; brother: Mike (Patsy) Beard of Fairview; sisters: Rachel Beard of Columbia, Jewell Wiley of Lawrenceburg; grandchildren Misty Warren, Tiffany (Andy) Jenks, Andrea Gibbs; great grandchildren: Avery & Greenley Jenks; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son: Donald “Don” Baker; brothers: Ernest, Buford, Douglas, Euing, L.J., and Thomas Beard; and husbands: Renis Baker and Alvin Y. Hooten, Jr.

Friends of the family will serve as pallbearers.
