Babuben K. Patel, age 74, a resident of Columbia, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Heritage Funeral Home. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

A life of an individual is characterized by their actions during their life. A few words to characterize Babuben’s life are: hard working, strong hearted, unconditionally loving, and charismatic. Despite being the mother of four, she touched the lives of everyone she came in contact with. With the many hardships, mentally and physically, she had faced during her life, nothing could change her determined attitude. She, along with her husband, built the familial and cultural pillars of our values for which we take great pride. A daughter, sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and now a great-grandmother will be dearly missed. A wise man once stated, “Death is not extinguishing the light; it is putting out the lamp because dawn has come.”

She is survived by her husband: Khodabhai Patel; sons: Mahendra (Mike), Sudhir (Sam), Ramesh, and Sharad; and their wives respectively: Sita, Manju, Alka, and Anita; grandchildren: Divya, Chirag, Purnima, Mosam, Himani, Ayush, Darshana, Akash, and Hardi; and great-grandchild: Jiya.
