Mr. Johnny Kirk Counts, age 64, a resident of Columbia, passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 17th at 10AM at Heritage Funeral Home with Joe Rhodes officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 16th from 4-8PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
A native of Columbia, Johnny was born on January 8, 1952 and was the son of the late Walter Mack Counts and the late Irma Geneva Kelley Counts. He and his brother, Tommy Counts, owned and operated Family Games and Billiards in Columbia for over 10 years and were presently the owners of Shooters Sports Bar & Grill in Columbia since 1993. Johnny also owned a game room in Centerville for over 30 years. He enjoyed playing poker and pool, as well as, fishing and antique cars.
He is survived by his son: Johnathon (Natalie) Counts of Columbia; daughters: Melissa (Troy) Hughes of Columbia, Jenny (Adam) White of Columbia; brother: Tommy (Judy) Counts of Columbia; sisters: Pam Mabry of Columbia, Linda (Ken) Odom of Florida; grandchildren: Jaylin Counts, Lauren Hughes, Madalyn Hughes, Sebastian Lanphear, Brennon White, Kasen White; loving companion: Kay Alexander; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother: Johnny Mack Counts.
Pallbearers will be: Tommy Counts, Jr., Case Robertson, Walt Tuten, Mike Tuten, Shane Robertson, and Dakota Jackson. Honorary pallbearers will be: Rickey Mencer and Donnie Joe Cothran.
The family requests that memorial donations be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation or to the American Cancer Society.
