Jerome McCord, Jr.

May 12, 1937 - June 6, 2016

Mr. Jerome McCord, Jr., age 79, a resident of Fly Road in Santa Fe, passed away Monday morning, June 6, 2016 at Life Care Center.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at 2PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Buddy Smith and Elder Larry Tarkington officiating. Burial will follow in New Antioch Cemetery in Primm Springs. The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday from 11AM-2PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Born on May 12, 1937 in Hickman County, Jerome was the son of the late Jerome McCord, Sr. and the late Estelle Hooper McCord. In his younger days, he belonged to a Fox Hunter’s Club and enjoyed fox hunting. He worked for Harrington Construction in Centerville building houses for many years. Jerome later worked for Maury County Garage building bridges until he retired. After retiring, he worked at the Convenient Center in the Fly Community.

He is survived by his wife: Viola McCord of Santa Fe; son: David Rochelle of Primm Springs; daughter: Brenda Odom of Santa Fe; brothers: Fred (Daisy) McCord of Santa Fe, Hershel McCord of Antioch; sister: Sandra (Bill) Wright of Nashville; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: J.C. McCord, Raymond McCord, Leon McCord; sisters: Ruth Allen, Mildred Malugin, Lucille McCord; and son-in-law: Terry Odom.

Pallbearers will be: Bruce Odom, Justin Odom, Tony Malugin, Mark McCord, Timmy Brown, and Jonathan Pewitt. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerome’s friends at the Fly Store, the past and present employees of the Maury County Garage, and the Staff of Life Care Center.
