Mr. Joe Claude, Jr. age 88, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away June 3, 2016 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

A homegoing celebration will be held on Thursday at 1PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. Al Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Hunter Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 12-1PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Born on July 25, 1927 in Lewis County, Joe was the son of the late Joe Frank Claude, Sr. and the late Virginia Linson Claude. He was previously employed as a boiler operator for Victory Chemical Company in Mt. Pleasant and was a member of the former Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church. He loved hunting, fishing, and vegetable gardening. He often enjoyed hunting and setting traps to sell fur. He will deeply missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife: Katherine Claude of Mt. Pleasant; sons: Edward Charles (Bessie) Claude of Spring Hill, Michael (Monica) Claude of Richmond, KY, William Thomas (Doris) Claude of Columbia, Franklin F. Claude of Mt. Pleasant; brothers: Andrew (Dorothy) Claude of Mt. Pleasant, Walter H. Claude of Mt. Pleasant; sisters-in-law: Bessie Stroud of Nashville, Respy Robinson of Murfreesboro; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; childhood best friend: James O’Neal; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter: Lois Rosenthal; one brother; and three sisters.

Pallbearers will be his nephews: William Howard Claude, Bernard Richardson, Terry Robinson, Andrew Claude, Michael Witherspoon, Worley Witherspoon, and William J. Dawson. Kenny Carter will serve as an honorary pallbearer, and nieces will serve as flower girls.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to all of his caregivers and nurses at Maury Regional Medical Center, Dr. Ben Gardner, Dr. Marshall, Dr. Messenger, and the staff of Hospice Compassus.
