Walter Casteel

Mr. Walter Curtis “Curt” Casteel, age 80, of Ethridge, lost his battle with cancer on Monday, May 30, 2016 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

A memorial service for Curt will be held on Saturday, June 4 at 11AM at Heritage Funeral Home with Bro. Art McCormick officiating. Burial will be at 1PM Saturday at the Liberty Hill Baptist Church Cemetery on Campbellsville Pike in Ethridge. The family will visit with friends on Saturday from 10-11AM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born September 1, 1935 in Giles County, Curt was the son of the late Johnny and Callie Cox Casteel. Curt was a retired farmer and an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycle riding and working with cattle. He was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his life partner: Sandy Casteel of Ethridge; children: Terry (Peggy) Casteel of Ethridge, Julie (Junior) Akins of Lawrenceburg, Joey Casteel of Ethridge; brothers: Howard (Katherine) Casteel of Illinois and Edgar Casteel of Ethridge; 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son: Curtis Lee Casteel; and sisters: Genett Garrison and Myrtle Jewell.
