Mrs. Deborah Smith Harris, 65, resident of Claremont Drive, passed away Friday, May 27 at her home after an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held at Heritage Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. with Greg Daimwood officiating.  Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens.  The family will visit with friends on Monday, May 30, 2016 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home.  Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Debbie was married to Ken Harris on December 31, 1970, and they were together for 45 wonderful years.  She was the daughter of Azilee Martin (Toby) Smith and the late Glyn Smith.  She was a member of Graymere Church of Christ.  She worked for Dr. Taylor Rayburn for 16 years.  After leaving there, she was a nanny for Chalmers and Dr. Betsy Brothers, helping to raise three wonderful children, Rachael, Ben and Caroline, whom she loved very much and considered them her own.  Walking in the Columbia Mall was one of her favorite hobbies where she was known as the “Mall Walker”.  She loved country music, cross stitching, crochet, and caring for other people.

In addition to her loving husband and mother, she is survived by sister:  Faye Smith; her niece:  Jennifer (David) Sewell and their two daughters, Shelsea and McKenzie; a nephew:  Richard Kincaid; special friends:  Ann and J.B. Lamar.  She has several other nieces and nephews.  In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a sister:  Joan Kincaid.

Pallbearers will be Jay Brassell, Wesley Brassell, Nick Brassell, Christian Harris, Clayton Harris, Ron Harris, Duke Harris and Jeff Harris.  Honorary pallbearers will be the “Mall Walkers”.
