Sarah Katherine Martin

February 19, 1936 - May 11, 2016

Katherine “Kathy” Herndon Martin, age 80, a resident of Columbia, passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services for Mrs. Martin will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, May 15th in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Maury Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until the 2PM service at the funeral home.

Born February 19, 1936 in Columbus, MS, she was the daughter of the late Joe and Bessie Knight Herndon. She worked as a loan officer with Sun Trust Bank and was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Martin enjoyed reading, puzzles, tennis, British humor and she dearly loved her family.

Mrs. Martin is survived by her sons: Stephen Martin of Murfreesboro and Colin (Jodi) Martin of Thompson Station; sisters: Rhea Dozier of Nashville and Margaret Lawson of Tullahoma; grandchildren: Cameron Arnold, Eric Martin, Alex Martin, Ali Martin and Zora Martin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister: Scottie Reedy and her brother: Joe Herndon.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
