Virginia Gordon

July 14, 1939 - April 14, 2016

Virginia L. Gordon, age 76 of Sandyhook, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2016 at the Maury Regional Medical Center, Columbia, TN.

A homegoing celebration will be held on Sunday, April 17, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home, 609 Bear Creek Pike, Columbia, TN. Burial will follow in Orr Chapel Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. A visitation will be held on Sunday from 12:00 – 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

She was born July 14, 1939 in Joiner, Arkansas, to Vera and David Love.  She married the love of her life James P. Gordon Sr. on March 31, 1959.

Virginia Gordon took great care of her household and her husband.  The joy in her life was hearing about the success of her children, grandchildren, and the birth of great grandchildren. Her greatest joy was praising the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  She often sang…”What You Know About Jesus….He’s Alright”!

Those who are left to cherish her memory are her four daughters: Thearla  (Stephen) Kozy of Hermitage, TN, JoAnn (David) Gordon-Anderson  of Woodbury, MN, Candice (Gilbert) Reed of Minneapolis, MN, Cynthia (Jimmy) Lymon of Mt. Pleasant, TN; four sons: Floyd (Joann) Gordon of Mt. Pleasant, TN, James P. Gordon II of Mt. Pleasant, TN, Israel Gordon of Erie, PA, David (Rita) Gordon of Minneapolis, MN; four sisters: Aretta Allen, Linda Love, Thelma (Samuel) Davis all of Chicago, Il, Birdie Crockett (William) of Coloma, MI; three brothers: Granville (Juanita) Love, David Love of Chicago, IL, Cleodus (Lurialene) Love of Pontiac, MI; and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters: Hester Louise Love, Vera Katherine Jackson, Ida Grayson, Marie Knight; and brother: Autrey Lee Love.
