James Aubrey Smithson, Sr.

July 28, 1925 - March 31, 2016

Mr. James Aubrey Smithson, age 90, a resident of Columbia, passed away Thursday evening, March 31, 2016 at Signature Healthcare.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 9th at the Antioch Church of Christ at 11am with Mike Bryan officiating.  The family will visit with friends one hour prior to the service.  Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

James was born July 28, 1925 in Williamson County, Tennessee and was the son of the late Charlie and Sara Smithson.  He worked at Maury Farmers Co-Op for fifteen years and was also at Fountain Creek Mills for over twenty years.  He enjoyed farming and raising chickens.

James is survived by his sons: James (Jerlene) Smithson, Jr. of Lewisburg, David (Shelia) Smithson of Fayetteville, and Jeff (Sarah) Smithson of Culleoka; daughter: Terrie Roland of Culleoka; fifteen grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ethel Jean Harris Smithson; children: Judy Woodard, Larry Smithson, Peggy Williams, Roger Smithson, and Jerry Smithson; grandchild: Leonard Williams; brothers: TW and Charlie Smithson; sisters: Ruby Whitley, Margie Maupin, and Eula Mae Smithson.
