Mr. Jack Warren Cunningham, age 70, a resident of Sioux Trail in Columbia, and former owner of The Jumbo House and Dari Gem restaurants, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2016 at his residence.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at 3:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Bro. Ezell Rose, Drew Love, and Jerry Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow in Maury Memorial Gardens, adjacent to the funeral home with military honors provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. A visitation will also be held on Tuesday from 12:00 – 3:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on September 14, 1945 in Roane County, TN, Jack was the son of the late Joseph W. Cunningham and the late Mildred Murray Cunningham. He served his country in the United States Air Force and was a long time business owner. Having owned Jumbo House in Columbia and Dari Gem in Mt. Pleasant, they are still successful businesses today. He never met a stranger, and there is no one who could come in contact with Jack and not leave smiling, and he made lasting friendships with his customers over the years. Jack will be missed by everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his daughters: Kelly Jacobs, Kim (Mike) Johnson, Kerri Dudley, Aerial Cunningham, Alley (Travis) Hanvy; son: Austin Cunningham; brother: Jerry Cunningham; eight grandchildren: Michael (Kendall) Jacobs, Chris Jacobs, Andrew Gilliam, Alexander McDeavitt, Dylan Dudley, Delanie Dudley, Madison (Jack) Andrews, Baleigh (Alex) Hildebrandt; nine great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special friends: Bill and Jana Love and their family, and all of his girls at The Jumbo House who love him, took care of him, and spoiled him to no end.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son: Greg Cunningham; and brother: John Cunningham.
Pallbearers will be: Austin Cunnigham, Michael Jacobs, Chris Jacobs, Andrew Gilliam, Alexander McDeavitt, Dylan Dudley, and Travis Hanvy. Honorary pallbearers will be his best bud, Glen Johnson, Jacob Love, Josh Love, Drew Love, Bill Love, the past and present employees of Jumbo House and Dari Gem, and everyone who hung out at Dodson’s in the evenings and his many friends over the years.
