Lois Hutcherson, age 79, a resident of Chestnut Ridge Road in Santa Fe, passed away Friday morning, March 25, 2016 at NHC Cool Springs.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home in Columbia with Bro. Tommy Fox and Bro. Kevin Morse officiating. Burial will follow in Theta Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday, March 28, 2016 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on August 2, 1936 in Nashville, Lois was the daughter of the late Charlie Peden and the late Novella Smith Peden. She was a member of Theta Baptist Church. She married the love of her life, Homer Hutcherson, on December 3, 1955 in Springfield, TN. He preceded her in death in March of 2015. Lois and Homer began their marriage in Nashville, and transferred to Santa Fe in 1999 where they spent the rest of their lives together. She had a special love for animals. She was retired from Caudle Veterinary in Nashville where she had worked for many years. Above all, Lois was a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother.

She is survived by her daughter: Debbie Byram of Brentwood; brothers: Glenn Peden of Cedar Hill, Marion Peden of Nashville; sister: Wanda (Jerry) Carney of Whites Creek; step grandchildren: Steve (Suzy) Byram, Penny Byram; six step great grandchildren; three step great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother: Clinton Peden.

Pallbearers will be Houston Peden, Winston Peden, Josh Peden, Jerry Carney, Rick Martin, and Steve Byram. Honorary pallbearers will be Glenn Peden, Vince Greer, and the members of Theta Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the charity of your choice.
