Ruth Naomi Harrison Shiroda, age 79, a resident of Columbia, died Monday, March 14, 2016.
Ruth was of the Catholic faith. She was a mother of six and loved every second of being with her children. She was a retired meat wrapper with Danny’s Foods in Dearborn, Michigan. She loved bingo and was an avid reader. She loved eating out at her favorite place, Applebee’s. Her favorite collections were her crystal and tea sets.
She is survived by daughters: Rhonda Eberts (Earl) of Taylor Michigan; Theresa Mazur of Carlton, Michigan; Cheryl Kiser (Gary) of Columbia, Tennessee; and Beth Mayes (Mike) of Monroe Michigan; sons: Chris Shiroda (Maureen) of Halifax, England and Steve Shiroda (Lori) of Flat Rock, Michigan; 15 grandchildren; 13 greatgrandchildren; 1 great greatchild. She is also survived by her devoted caregiver Linda Greene.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Simon M. Harrison and Susie M. (Morrison) Harrison; grandchild: Kerri Kiser-Tomlin; sisters: Nora Parker, June Underwood, and Virginia Hicks; brothers: Morgan Harrison, Harold Harrison, James Harrison, Lloyd Harrison, and Billy Harrison.
The family wishes to offer special thanks to the staff at Maury Regional Hospital, Cassie Bowling, Maury Regional Home Healthcare and Hospice Compassus. They also want to thank friends and family who have phoned, texted, visited and sent cards to let her know how much she was loved.
Funeral services will be 2:00pm Saturday, March 19 at Heritage Funeral Home in Columbia, TN. Pastor Mark Lindstrom and Rev. Gene Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in Gum Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, 5270 Marion Road, Cunningham, TN, 37052. Family will receive friends from 12 noon to 2pm, Saturday, March 19 at Heritage Funeral Home in Columbia, TN.
