Floyd Cates

February 23, 1946 - March 11, 2016

Mr. Floyd Cates, age 70, and a resident of Lawrenceburg, formerly of Columbia, passed away on Friday, March 11, 2016 at Southern Tennessee Regional Health System.

Born on February 23, 1946 in Osceola, Arkansas, Floyd was the son of the late William Anderson Cates and the late Thelma Blanche Rogers Shoumake. He was self employed as a painter and carpenter. He loved to travel and fish as well as camp on the river.

He is survived by his children: Pamlea McGee, Waylon Cates, Daniel Cates, Floyd Cates, Timothy Cates; brothers: William (Euletia) Cates, Jr.; half-brothers: Terry and Jerry Cates; half-sisters: Joyce and Wanda Cates; former wife: Vicki Calvert; and several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughters: Helena Michelle Cates and Sherry Lynn Cates; and brothers: George Wayne Cates and J.T. Cates.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Floyd’s home health nurses Leslie Brown and Leslie Abernathy for their care and compassion for Floyd during this time.
