James E. Beckton

August 19, 1944 - February 29, 2016

Mr. James Edwin Beckton, age 71, a resident of Culleoka, passed away Monday morning, February 29, 2016 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

The family will celebrate his life with services at a later date. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on August 19, 1944 in Dearborn, Michigan, James was the son of the late James L. Beckton and the late Mary Taylor Beckton. He worked as a commercial shrimp and fish boat captain and a welder in steel construction. He was a big hunter who was outspoken on gun rights. James enjoyed working on and building his schooner boat replica. Overall, he was “just a simple man.”

He is survived by his sons: Jesse E. (Carrie) Beckton, James E. Beckton; daughter: Christina (Richard) Belanger; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Louis L. Beckton.
