Mose Mavity

April 13, 1942 - January 9, 2016

Mr. Mose E. Mavity, age 73, a resident of Columbia, passed away Saturday, January 9, 2016, at his residence.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at 3:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday from 2:00 – 3:00 PM at the funeral home. An inurnment will be held at Maury Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.  Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on April 13, 1942 in West Helena, Arkansas, Mose was the son of the late Wylie William Mavity, Sr. and the late Nellie Inez Howard Mavity. He was of the Baptist faith and worked many years in the welding and construction business.

He is survived by his daughter: Mary Mavity of Columbia; stepsons: Randy (Pam) Loague of Columbia, Jeffrey Loague of Gainesville, VA; special daughter-in-law: Kimberly (Cliff) Estes of Columbia, SC; sisters: Jamey Marie Rodman, Patricia Faye (Winston) Garrettson; b rothers: Lucky Talmadge Mavity, Wally William (Carolyn) Mavity, Jr., Donald Gene Mavity, Danny Edward (Linda) Mavity; grandchildren: Brittany (David) Farag of Raleigh, NC, Ty Loague of Santa Fe, Ashley Mink of Fulton, MS; great grandchildren: Austin Johnson, Harleigh Johnson, Kylee Johnson, Bronson Mink; step grandchildren: Tiffany Tate of Columbia, Delayna Sisk of Santa Fe; and step great grandchildren: Rebekah and Peyton Lynch and Jayce Sisk.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Lynda Gayle Mavity; daughter: Sherry Harrison Mavity; sisters: Martha Sue Davis, Nancy Ann Brown, Ruby Carnell Ferguson, Connie Inez Craig, Sybil Ann Bruce; and his beloved Chihuahua: PeeWee.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
