Kayla Bryanton, age 20, of Columbia, passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2016 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Murfreesboro.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor Dennis Lawson officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Eternity in Maury Memorial Gardens, adjacent to Heritage Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, January 8, 2016 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM and again on Saturday from 12:00 – 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born in Columbia on March 27, 1995, Kayla was the daughter of Tamara Bryanton and Marcus Canty. She was a very intelligent girl who graduated two years early from Lewisburg High School. At one point in her life, Kayla worked for the governor where she enjoyed motivational speaking. She was also an Advocate for mental health kids and abused women. She loved helping others and would do anything for anybody. Kayla loved being around people, whether that be her family or her friends. She was always the center of attention, making people laugh and have a good time. She enjoyed poetry, art, and music, as well as cooking for others and being outdoors. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her son: Elijah Bryanton; brother: Isaiah Bryanton of Columbia; sisters: Jasmine Bryanton, Chelsea Bryanton, Paris Bryanton, Madison Bryanton, Alibia Allen all of Columbia; and half-sister: Martisa Pierce of Spring Hill; niece: Amaya Childress; nephew: Jaxon Williams; aunts: Tatia Lockridge of Kansas City, MO, Sheena Canty of Columbia; uncle: Kyle Jones of Columbia; special friends: Darline Jaco and family, Susan Jaco and Crystal Hawks; foster parents: Terry & Sam Mills; God parents: Cooney & Edith Bills and family. She is also survived by Reada Bryanton and Michael Bryanton.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother: Freddie Jones; and her “Granny,” Scottie Cofer.

Pallbearers will be: Cord Childress, Crystal Hawks, Chelsea Bryanton, K’iante Fleming, Siante Bellafant, Justin Bellafant, Antuan Brown, and Kyle Jones.

Flower girls will be: Shailon Lane, Paris Bryanton, Madison Bryanton, Brittany Jaco, Susan Jaco, Hannah Crutcher, and Maurissa Bellafant.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to Elijah Bryanton’s account at Regions Bank.
