Mary Jean Stinson

January 7, 1940 - December 31, 2015

Mary Jean Stinson, age 75, a resident of Columbia, previously of the Duck River Community, passed away Thursday morning, December 31, 2015, at NHC Columbia.

She will be laid to rest at Pleasant Mount Cemetery. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on January 7, 1940, in Maury County, Jean was the daughter of the late Harry W. Mitchell and the late Clara Lamar Mitchell. Besides her work as a homemaker, she loved animals, flowers, and being outdoors.

She is survived by her children: Julie U. Mayse of Hohenwald, James W. (Heidi) Upshaw of Columbia, Laura U. (Mike) Gilmer of Harriman, Jason M. Stinson of Columbia, Nathan Kyle (Kristen) Stinson of Columbia; grandchildren: Christy English of Hohenwald, Brandy Boshers of Columbia, James Upshaw of Columbia, John Gilmer of Harriman, Connor Upshaw of Columbia, Catherine Upshaw of Columbia; step-grandchildren: Katie Johnson, Michelle LaRue, Heather LaRue all of Columbia; and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Dallas Jack Stinson.
