Rufus Collier Jackson IV

March 10, 1933 - December 22, 2015

Mr. Rufus Collier Jackson IV, affectionately known as “Buck” by his friends and family, age 82, and a resident of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at his residence.

A visitation with the family will be held on Saturday from 1:00 – 3:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Saturday at 3:30 PM at Arlington Cemetery with Don Kerce officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on March 10, 1933 in Mt. Pleasant, Rufus was the son of the late Rufus Collier Jackson III and the late Mary Elizabeth Cecil Jackson. He was a graduate of Columbia Military Academy and earned his bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University. Rufus served his country in the United States Army and was stationed in Japan. He ran the Mt. Pleasant Lumber and Coal Company for many years and was a member of Mt. Pleasant First United Methodist Church. Rufus was a lifelong avid LSU Tigers fan. He was an outdoors man who enjoyed golfing, fishing, and going to the family camp at Pickwick Dam on the Tennessee River. He loved animals, especially his dogs. Rufus also loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and going on trips to Tunica with his sisters and friends.

He is survived by his daughters: Stephanie (Hunter) Robinette of Mt. Pleasant, Suzanne (Ben) Crenshaw of Franklin, Rosemary (Ray) Cothran of Mt. Pleasant; son: James Gregory Ivie of Mt. Pleasant; sisters: Dale Hardison of Mt. Pleasant, Betsy Thompson of Pine Bluff, AR, Lillie Jackson of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren: Jackson Robinette, Nate Crenshaw, Lucas Crenshaw, Nina Crenshaw, Chase Cothran, Mason Cothran, Ava Cothran; step-grandson: Justin Robinette; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Kathryn Jane Jackson.

Pallbearers will be: Hunter Robinette, Ben Crenshaw, Ray Cothran, Chase Cothran, Jackson Robinette, and Mason Cothran. Honorary pallbearers will be Kyle Thomas, Terry Williams, Rodney Massey, Jeff Tietgens, his nephews, and the past and present members of the Mt. Pleasant Country Club.
