Mr. John Henry Jenkins, Sr., was born July 2, 1945 to the late Mrs. Helen Louise Jenkins Foster and the late James E. Foster. He departed this life on Saturday December 19 at 6:30AM.

A homegoing celebration will be held on Sunday, December 27, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in Columbia. Burial will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by the Tennessee National Guard. Mr. Jenkins will lie in state on Saturday, December 26, 2015 from 11:00AM – 5:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

John was educated in Maury County, attending Macedonia Elementary and Carver Smith High School, graduating class of 1964. Mr. Jenkins was a long time employee of CSX Transportation for 35years, Tennessee National Guard Retiree, and Vietnam Veteran.

Mr. Jenkins joined Mt. Vernon Baptist Church at an early age under the leadership of James C. Wray.

John is lovingly survived by his wife: Nora Jean Jenkins of 48 years; one devoted son: John C. (Kaye) Jenkins; three grandchildren: Jonathan C. Jenkins III, Jontashia Jenkins, Jonna Jenkins of Columbia; brother: Victor (Cherese) Foster of Atlanta, GA; two uncles: Charles Jenkins of Columbia, TN, James Paul Witherspoon of Fort Campbell, KY; one aunt: Doris Witherspoon of Fort Campbell, KY; two brothers-in-law: Mr. Harvey Witherspoon and Gary Leon (Stephanie) Witherspoon both of Columbia, TN; sisters-in-law: Doris Lewis of Columbia, TN, Mamie Foster of Memphis, TN; devoted and loving cousin: Mary Ruth Redding of Los Angeles, CA

Along with his mother and father, he was preceded in death by his brother: James Ernest Foster, Jr.
