Doris Juanita McKennon

July 15, 1948 - November 20, 2015

Mrs. Doris McKennon, age 67, wife of Bobby McKennon, and a resident of Knob Creek Road in Columbia, passed away early Friday morning, November 20, 2015 at her residence.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 22, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Brother Tommy Fox and Pastor Kevin Morse officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Hills Cemetery in the Theta Community. The family will receive friends for a visitation on Saturday, November 21, 2015 from 3:00 – 7:00 PM and again one hour prior to the service on Sunday at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

A native of Columbia, Doris was born on July 15, 1948 and was the daughter of the late Jerry Eugene Derryberry and the late Juanita Maxwell Derryberry. She was a member of Theta Baptist Church and previously worked as a medical coder at Moses Taylor Hospital. In her free time she loved gardening and tending to her flowers and plants. She especially loved spending time with her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids.

In addition to her husband, Bobby, of 48 years, she is survived by her daughters: Sherri (Jimmy) Calvert, Cathy Lopez, Brandy (Scott) Spurlock all of Columbia; brothers: Troy (Judy) Derryberry of Lewisburg, David (Pat) Derryberry of Columbia, Dennis (Cindy) Derryberry of Pulaski; sisters: Edna Hardison of Columbia, Beverly Primm of Columbia, Paulette Derryberry of Columbia; grandchildren: Tiffany and Kayla Byrd, Alexis Nicole McKennon, Victoria Spurlock; great-grandchild: Audree “Chunk” Marie Kinnard; and one great-grandchild on the way: Levi Lamont Kinnard.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter: Leslie McKennon; and brother-in-laws: David Hardison and Jerry Primm.

Pallbearers will be David Derryberry, Chase Cribbs, Kevin Webb, Randall Ingram, Samuel Fox, Robert Jeanette, and Sean Valdez.

Jerry Primm, Johnny & Georgia Porter, Becky Webb, and Scott Spurlock will serve as honorary pallbearers.
