Sam Stewart

May 1, 1942 - November 19, 2015

Mr. Sam Stewart, age 73, a resident of Columbia, passed away Thursday, November 19, 2015 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 23, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Heritage Funeral Home with Keith Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a visitation on Sunday, November 22, 2015 from 3:00 – 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on May 1, 1942 in Columbia, Sam was the son of the late Arch Stewart and the late Savannah Nolen Stewart. He worked as a truck driver for Columbia Camper for twelve years before he retired. Sam loved being outdoors tending to his flowers and being with his dogs. He enjoyed country music and watching western shows. Sam loved his family and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his sons: Dakota Stewart of Williamsport, Colby Stewart of Columbia, Trey Shepherd of Columbia; daughter: Kayla (Evan) Watkins of Columbia; sister: Ruthie Powell of Murfreesboro; grandchildren: Trenton, Sciler, Kayleigh, and Kinsley Watkins, and Levi and Brooklyn Stewart; and the mother of his children: Pat Stewart of Columbia.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: James, Herbert, Richard, and George Stewart; and sisters: Fannie Mae Stewart Patterson, Louise Stewart, and Nellie Brewer Cates.

Pallbearers will be: Evan Watkins, Michael Watkins, Spooky Powell, Tony Busby, James Busby, Melvin Potts, and Jonathan Ashworth.
