Robert Cates

Robert Dale Cates, age 24, a resident of Columbia, passed away Sunday, October 18, 2015 at Maury Regional Medical Center. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2015 at 5:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home. A visitation will also be held on Thursday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Born on April 25, 1991 in Maury County, Robert was the son of Jennifer Patterson Cates and the late Steven Dale Cates. He attended Columbia Central High School and worked as a laborer on a farm. Robert was full of life and loved all different kinds of music. He enjoyed horses and being outdoors. In his spare time, Robert also enjoyed drawing and spending time with his family and friends. In addition to his mother, he was survived by his brother: Ryan Cates of Columbia; sister: Rebecca Cates of Columbia; special niece: Emma Cates of Columbia; maternal grandmother: Peggy Owens of Columbia; maternal grandfather: Robert Patterson of Columbia; paternal grandparents: Dale & Nancy Cates of Williamsport; paternal great-grandparents: George & Sally Kittrell of Columbia; aunt: Kellie Ruiz of Summertown; uncle: Johnny Lee Cates of Williamsport; and several other aunts, uncles, and cousins. Along with his father, Robert was preceded in death by his daughter: Sandra Collins Cates; and uncle: Robby Patterson. The family requests memorial donations be made to the Robert Cates Memorial Fund.
