Mr. Joe Gilbert London, age 77, a resident of Neeley Hollow Road in Columbia, was transferred away Monday, September 21, 2015 at his residence. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Milton Hicks and Donald Paul officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery with military honors provided by the United States Marine Corps. The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM as well as on Thursday from 11:00 AM until the 1:00 PM service at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Born on May 5, 1938 in Maury County, Joe was the son of the late Gilbert London and the late Ruth Harris London. He served his country in the United States Marines, attends Mooresville Pike Baptist Church and Blessed Hope Baptist Church, and was the owner of London's Auto Repair. Joe loved fishing as well as restoring old cars and John Deere tractors. He enjoyed Nascar and Atlanta Braves Baseball. Above all else, Joe loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. He is survived by his daughters: Connie (Rex) Gissiner of Inverness, FL, Kimberly London of Columbia; sisters-in-law: Mary Etta London and Nellie London; grandchildren: Joe Martin, Jana Dawn Davis, Jason Davis, Jonathan Boles, Mandie Manship, Candace Dowdy, Rebecca (Ronnie) Harris, Joel (Leah) London; and thirteen great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Geneva London; son: Timothy London; brothers: Miles, Aubrey, and Billy London; and sister-in-law: Icy London. Pallbearers will be: Artie Haskins, Marty Leland, Ronnie Harris, Jonathan Boles, Jim Johnson, Joel London, Allen Elias, Tom Berry, and Danny Collins. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Mary Etta London, Christine Pullen, Joe Gilliam, Donald Briggs, Carl Pigg, Jim & Patsy Johnson, Tim & Dianne Paul, Gilbert London, and Bobby Joe Grooms.
