Brent Mahaffey

Brent Mahaffey, age 42, a resident of Columbia, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 14, 2015 at his home. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at 7:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor Willie McLauren and Keith Baker officiating. The family will also receive friends for visitation on Thursday from 4:00 PM until the service hour at 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. A native of Columbia, Brent was born on August 10, 1973 and was the son of Bobby and Beth Mahaffey. He was a welder by trade and worked for E Z Distributing Inc. in Columbia. He was a very friendly and helping person who was known for his big smile and bear hugs. In his younger years, Brent enjoyed playing baseball for Little League and Babe Ruth as well as football for Whitthorne Middle School. In addition to his parents, Brent is survived by his children: Zach Wray of Columbia, Abby Mahaffey of Marlette, MI, Taylor Marcum of Marlette, MI; sister: Kim Boyd of Columbia; grandson: Blake Neumann; nephew: Casen Boyd; the mothers of his children: Bethany Miller and Kelly Marcum Waun; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: Aline & King Henry; and paternal grandparents: Catherine & Roy "Buck" Mahaffey. Honorary pallbearers will be all of Brent's best buddies and friends. The family would like to extend a special thanks to their friends at Northside Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Brent Mahaffey Memorial Fund.
