Cyril was born with such curiosity and was a lifelong learner. He loved to read history and biographies, travel the world, and taught himself to fly a plane. After a tractor accident at the age of twenty-four laid him up for a year, he moved to Columbia in 1953 to attend business school. With natural talent, Cyril opened his business, Evers and Jones Realty in 1963. He had amazing charm and ceaseless energy. Many will remember him whistling and skipping to the bank and post office. He built solid relationships and was so trusted that after he sold many their first home; he made customers of their children and grandchildren. Cyril was a huge smart-aleck with a wicked sense of humor and loved to tell stories to make people laugh. Cyril was a man with a huge heart who worked tirelessly to serve his fellow man. He volunteered with countless organizations, opened his home, business and heart, and gave freely of his time, energy, and wealth to help others. Cyril planted a huge garden and beautiful fields of sunflowers to give away. He loved hugging little children. More than anything, Cyril loved his family. He was a role model for his children who have tried to follow in his huge footsteps. He will leave a hole in his family and community. He will be missed by Nell, his beautiful wife of 52 years, and his four children: Cathy (David Vernon) Cook of Columbia, Elizabeth (Kreig) Roof of Brentwood, Mary (Bob) Graves of Huntsville, AL, Phillip (Lisa) Evers of Columbia. He was loving "Papa" to: Thomas and Mark Cook, Bennett and Caroline Roof, Jackson, Macon, and Virginia Graves, and Kadi and Collin Evers. Cyril's grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. The family requests that memorial donations be made to The Community Foundation, Harvest Share, Columbia Academy, and King's Daughters School, and the Family Center.
