Joe Hopper, age 51, a resident of Columbia, passed away Saturday, August 15, 2015 at Alive Hospice in Nashville. A life celebration service in the memory of Joe will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, August 22, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Columbia with Dr. Steve Livengood officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 Noon until the 2:00 PM service at the church. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of and assisting the family with arrangements. Born September 9, 1963 in Huntsville, AL, Joe was the son of the late Fred and Gloria Grandi Hopper and husband of Nancy Johnson Hopper. Joe was a prepress technician for Lewisburg Printing Company and a member of First Baptist Church in Columbia. As a devoted Alabama fan, he also was the director of the Faith Riders of First Baptist Church and a member of Muletown H.O.G. Along with being an avid motorcyclist, he loved hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains and traveling. Most of all, he loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, his family, and his many friends. In addition to his wife, Joe is survived by his children: Steven Bassham of Murfreesboro and Alicia Fleming and husband, Ashley, of Smyrna; brother: Bill Hopper and wife, Jan, of Meridianville, AL; grandchildren: Makenzie Fleming, Makayla Fleming and Bryant Fleming. The family has requested that memorials be made to either the American Cancer Society, the Center of Hope in Columbia or to the I Love My Church Campaign of First Baptist Church in Columbia.
