Gilman Martin, age 68, and a resident of Franklin, passed away Monday, August 03, 2015 at his residence. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2015 at 4:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home in Columbia with Brother-In-Law Kirk Sutherland officiating. Burial will follow in Sparkman Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home in Columbia. Heritage Funeral Home of Franklin is assisting the family with arrangements. Born September 29, 1946 in Williamson County, Gilman was the son of the late Jesse and Grace Marlin Martin. On February 16, 1968, he married the love of his life, Janice Elaine Martin. Gilman attended Burwood and Franklin High. He worked at Kusan which later became Aero-Quip as a supervisor then went to work at APCOM where later he retired as a programmer. He was also of the Church of Christ faith. In addition to his wife, Janice, Gilman is survived by his Sons: Jeffery Gilman Martin and Daniel Scott Martin; Brother: Benton (Mary Dan) Martin; Sisters: Carolyn Judd, Joanne (Joe) King, Janice Walls, and Deborah (Jeff) Klinger; Grandchild: Jessica Elaine Martin; and In-Laws: Alton (Peggy) Anglin, Sharon (Roger) Potts, Elizabeth (Kirk) Sutherland, June Anglin Hunter, and Judy (Wendell) Newman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his Brothers: Donald Martin, Dennis Martin, David Martin, Delmer Martin, Delbert Martin, and Danny Martin. Pallbearers will be : T.W. Holt, Dennis Bottoms, Jamie Coleman, Tony Anderson, Bernice Martin, Shirley Hughes, and Donnie "Hud" Huddleston. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Patrick Murphy and Staff of Tennessee Oncology.
