Born on August 16, 1933 in Newport, TN, Margaret was the daughter of the late Mack G. Hurst, Sr. and the late Phoebia Lindsey Hurst. She was a graduate of Karns High School in Knoxville, and she served her country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Margaret was a member of the 3310 Student Squadron at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois where she served as a radio instructor, met and married her husband, Frank Shirley Cannady. She was a longtime member of Campbell Station Church of Christ. Margaret was a woman of many traits. She worked as a substitute teacher for Culleoka School, was a part time farmer, and was the store keeper at Cannady Country Store, but in her own words, her favorite job description was Mom. In her spare time, she loved reading, watching birds, and growing flowers. Two years ago, Margaret got to experience the beach for the first time in her life, and she enjoyed every minute of it. She is survived by her son: Robert (Wendy) Cannady of Culleoka; daughters: Brenda (Rodney) McKee of Woodstock, GA, Sharon (Jerry) Walls of Savannah, Cindy (Don) Moore of Franklin; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Frank Cannady; grandson: Travis Riddle; and brothers: Mack Hurst, Jr. and Ralph Hurst. Grandsons and family will serve as pallbearers.
