Mr. John Thornsberry, age 68, a resident of Cranford Hollow Road in Columbia, passed away Friday, July 24, 2015 at Williamson Medical Center. The family will celebrate his life with a memorial gathering at a later date. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Born on June 19, 1947 in Martinez, California, John was the son of the late Wilmer Leon and Matilda Morales Tindel. He served his country in the United States Navy where he earned the National Defense Service Medal. John worked for General Motors for thirty years transferring from California to Oklahoma, then from Oklahoma to Tennessee. In his past time, he enjoyed going to the lake and jet skiing. John will be best remembered by riding around Columbia with his three Labradors in the back of his truck. He is survived by his son: John Thornsberry, Jr. of Columbia; daughter: Dawn Lynn (Keith) Bennett of Spring Hill; brother: Steve (Christine) Tindel of Yale, OK; sister: Frances (Anthony) Ochoa of Pleasington, CA; grandchildren: Danielle Lynn Thornsberry, Chantel Nicole Prince, Ashleigh Nicole Bennett, and Caleb Ryan Bennett; and his beloved dogs: Doogie, Mitsy, and Shilo. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Delores Ann Cox Thornsberry.
