Juanita Valka

Juanita Ilene Hinkle Valka, age 88, a resident of Clara Mathis Road in Spring Hill, passed away Friday, July 17, 2015 at NHC Columbia. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 19, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. Jacob P. Heine officiating. The family will also visit with friends for visitation on Sunday one hour prior to the service from 1:00 - 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Born on March 4, 1927 in Lawrence County, Indiana, Juanita was the daughter of the late Charles C. Eddington and the late Hallie Hawkins Bowman. She was a graduate of Bedford High School and was a homemaker the majority of her life. She was of the Lutheran faith and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbia where she served as the treasurer of the Woman's Guild for a short time. Juanita enjoyed baking and cooking, especially for other people. She would often cook to give away to people like her neighbors and mailman. She also liked music and reading. Juanita loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also loved her two Yorkies: Sparkle and Ava who preceded her in death. She is survived by her children: Joe (Carolyn) Hinkle of Russell Springs, KY, Kevin (Becky) Hinkle of Denham Springs, LA, Kent Hinkle of Fairbanks, AK, Susan (Dean) Schatz of Spring Hill, TN, Jack Valka, Jr. of Michigan, Rene (Dawn) Valka of Cullman, AL, and Jeanette (Rick) Cherry of Berkley, MI; special niece: Rita Norman of Bedford, IN; sixteen grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: Roy Kenneth Hinkle and Jack W. Valka; sons: James Kenneth Hinkle, Jimmy Valka; brother: Harold Eddington; and sisters: Katie Lantz, and Evelyn Henderson. Honorary pallbearers will be the employees of NHC Columbia.
