Homer Dee Sewell

October 12, 1921 - June 15, 2015

Mr. Homer Sewell, age 93, devoted husband of the late Mary Ellene Sewell of 64 years and a resident of Bear Creek Pike in Columbia, passed away Monday, June 15, 2015 at his residence. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 17 at 11AM at Heritage Funeral Home with Wayne Hardison officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Hope at Maury Memorial Gardens adjacent to Heritage Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 16 from 5:00-8:00 PM as well as one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Son of William Sewell and Loula Sewell, Homer Sewell was born in Leighton, Alabama on October 12, 1921. He was a member of Northview Church of Christ in Columbia. He and his wife, Mary Ellene Sewell, owned and operated Sewell's Antiques for over 50 years on Bear Creek Pike. While helping his wife run the antique shop, he also worked at Occidental Chemical Company for 32 years. He was always a family man, living for his wife, children, and grandchildren. Mr. Homer Sewell is survived by his Son: Larry Sewell of Columbia; Daughter: Andrea Parsons (Nick Harmon) of Columbia; Sister: Stella Beard of Columbia; Grandchildren: Matthew Moore (Samantha Whiteing) of Murfreesboro, Josh Moore of Murfreesboro, and Emily Moore of Columbia; and very special friends: Maynell Walker, Kim Sharpton, and Vicki Hazard In addition to his Wife and Parents, he was preceded in death by his Brother: Horace Sewell; and his Sisters: Willie Mae Hallmark and Leona Hallmark. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary Pallbearers will be employees of Occidental Chemical Company and members of Northview Church of Christ.
