Annie L. Tarpley, age 78, of Columbia, passed away Thursday evening, June 4, 2015 at Hillcrest Healthcare Center in Ashland City, Tennessee. A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 8, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Polk Memorial Gardens with Eddie Bassham officiating. The family will also receive friends for visitation on Monday from 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM at Heritage Funeral Home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Ann was a Maury County native and was the daughter of the late Thomas and Eunice Norman. She grew up in Mt. Pleasant, TN and lived in Nashville and Madison Tennessee most of her adult life. She married her husband, James C. Tarpley and resided in Madison until his death. Annie did not have any children of her own but loved them and spent a lot of time helping family and friends with the care of their children. In September 1996 after selling their home in Madison, Ann moved back to Mt. Pleasant, TN. Since that date, several family members have seen to her care and well-being. Special thanks to Margaret Norman and Wanda Fly for Ann's care while in Mt. Pleasant. Wanda handled Ann's affairs for five and a half years including the sale of their house, car, and belongings. Beginning in January 2002, twelve and a half years of care were managed by Donald and Nadine Brogan who gave of their time and love to Ann's well-being. Since August 2014, Ann moved to the Hillcrest Healthcare in Ashland City, TN where her loving niece, Andrea Lane and her family have seen to her care. Special thanks to Ann's new friend and companion, Barbara Denley, who took such good care of Ann while she was in Ashland City. Ann is survived by her brothers: Howard (Margaret) Norman of Mt. Pleasant, LeRoy "Blackie" (Mary) Norman of Mt. Pleasant; sisters: Nadine (Don) Brogan of Columbia, Wanda (Jerry) Fly of Columbia, Sara (Charles) Dale of Cross Bridges, Katie Juanita (Dr. Gordon) Freeman of Murfreesboro, Sharon (Charles) Sain of Nolensville, Faye (Randy) Woods of Mt. Pleasant, very special niece and caregiver, Andrea Lane; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and great-nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband of 37 years, James C. Tarpley, she was preceded in death by her sister: Jewell Norman Grooms; and brothers: Billy Norman and Jerry Norman.
