Martha Ann Owens

Martha Ann Owens, age 72, a resident of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at her residence. Graveside services will be held on Sunday, June 7th at 4:00pm at Santa Fe Cemetery with Bro. Nathan Potts officiating. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Martha was born May 19, 1943 in Lawrence County and was the daughter of the late William S. and Maime Waldrop Grooms. She enjoyed helping others by being a caregiver. Martha married Billy Owens, who preceded her in death in 2013. Some of her hobbies included fishing, camping, embroidering, and watching television. She also loved to read. She is survived by her two special nieces: Deborah (Nathan) Potts of Mt. Pleasant and Beverly (Billy) Edwards of Lewisburg; nephew: Bob Grooms of Lewisburg; step-grandson: Michael Hunter; and several other nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, Martha is preceded in death by her brothers: William "Buck" Grooms, A.D. Grooms, and Ray Grooms; sisters: Helen Ferguson and Betty Fogg; step-daughter: Carolyn Oliver. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Cothran, James Daws, David McCoy, Timmie Massie, Michael Goats, and Billy Edwards.
